Pastoral Associate job opening
We are seeking a full-time Pastoral Associate. This member of the pastoral staff will collaborate with the pastor, priests, deacons, and other parish ministries to serve the needs of the community. Areas of focus include adult faith formation, spiritual care, as well as outreach to the homebound and bereaved. This person will lead the OCIA and Adult Confirmation processes, the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, and the Bereavement ministry.
Qualified candidates must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, and must be eager to work collaboratively and effectively. This position requires a person to be able to work on weekends, evenings, and some holidays. This person must possess an ability to listen to people and have keen observational skills. The candidate must possess good computer and technology skills, being able to use an array of modern teaching and record-keeping tools. Applicants must be Roman Catholic and must understand and be committed to the social, moral and ethical teachings of the Church; have excellent knowledge of sacramental preparation; and be able to keep confidences of those who are seeking pastoral assistance.
A BA is required, preferably in theology or counseling. An MA in religious studies, theology, or counseling is preferred. Previous experience working with the OCIA and serving as a Pastoral Associate is desired.
